Sanlorenzo unveils the SX120 flagship – The first superyacht powered by Volvo Penta’s revolutionary IPS Professional platform!

Sanlorenzo has officially announced the latest addition to its celebrated SX crossover range – the SX120, set to make its world debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival. Standing at 36.6 metres with a volume of 270 GT, the SX120 marks a significant evolution in design, comfort and propulsion, becoming the first composite superyacht to feature Volvo Penta’s new IPS Professional Platform – the industry’s most advanced propulsion system.

Revealed earlier at boot Düsseldorf 2024, the IPS Professional Platform represents a technological leap, delivering up to 30% fuel savings and reduced emissions through its Eco Mode, which automatically regulates engine usage based on real-time demand. This new propulsion concept allows flexible configurations (twin, triple or quad), combining up to eight power sources, including internal combustion engines running on renewable fuels, hybrid systems or fully electric solutions.

The SX120 blends explorer, flybridge, and traditional motor yacht design, and reimagines onboard life with a four-deck layout, optimized for relaxation and direct contact with the sea. The spacious aft cockpit leads to an expansive beach area, featuring a pop-up pool hidden beneath a sliding sundeck and opening terraces that expand the space from 40m² to 70m², offering water access on three sides.

A standout feature is the large lounge within the beach area, which connects to the lower deck’s wellness space (with a Hammam), crew quarters, and four guest cabins – one convertible into an additional lounge. The main deck hosts a sculptural wooden staircase, a 14-guest dining area, and a forward-facing master suite with private bow access.

Clean interiors by Piero Lissoni, in collaboration with Zuccon International Project, are highlighted by steel elements, wood textures and parquet flooring.

As Lissoni explains: “The SX120 is a spectacular floating architecture – a real floating villa that incorporates everything we’ve learned from the SX range.”

The skylounge offers versatile use – as a media room, dining space or playroom – while the flybridge includes a modular configuration system to allow more privacy and personalization.

With the integration of Volvo Penta’s Assisted Docking, Dynamic Positioning, and a professional-grade Glass Cockpit helm, the SX120 redefines what it means to cruise with elegance, intelligence and sustainability.
