Oceanco has unveiled the latest 80m superyacht in its Simply Custom collection, Silver Ocean. Designed by Enrico Gobbi - Team for Design, the yacht is one of 17 from the fully customized range which sees world-renowned designers building on Oceanco's technical foundations.
‘We designed Silver Ocean to have a sleek, pure line with dynamic elements, so it appears to be in motion, even when still; we drew inspiration from aviation and automotive design, as well as fluid natural elements. It has an elusive look, with the over hangs in particular enhancing this perception. The profile features three character lines that emerged from our first concept sketches and which became ‘slits’ of light that characterize Silver Ocean at anchor.”
The main deck pool is flush with a glass bulwark to ensure a clear view of the ocean. Gobbi says it "feels like swimming in the sea." The lower deck offers even more amenities, with the beach club offering a panoramic jacuzzi, main lounge and gym.
As for the interior, Simply Custom yachts typically have an owner's suite on the upper deck and six guest cabins on the main deck. (The layout can be further customized to the owner, of course.) Gobbi says the Silver Ocean owner's suite has a private pool terrace and a staircase leading to a bow helipad.
The decor focuses on earthy beige and gray tones combined with wood and marble that create an atmosphere of relaxation along with the comforts it offers.
In terms of performance, Simply Customs features a high-performance hull by Lateral Naval Architects and hybrid diesel-electric propulsion systems capable of running on low-carbon biofuels. Silver Ocean is expected to have a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of between 14 and 15 knots. It will also be able to cover 5,000 nautical miles when traveling at 12 to 14 knots.
“At Team For Design – Enrico Gobbi, what inspires us most are the elegant yet powerful shapes and details that we find in nature, landscapes and wildlife, like the sinuosity of a bird, the fluidity of its body shape and the power of its wingspan. The aerodynamics and timeless aesthetics of aircraft inspire my creativity, and I am continuously inspired by automotive design and architecture.”
