Lürssen has launched the 114.2-metre superyacht Project Cosmos, the yard’s first yacht to feature fuel-cell technology, from its Rendsburg facility in Germany. Also known as Project 13759, Cosmos marks a milestone in the shipyard’s 150th anniversary.

“While it is true that no two yachts that leave our halls are ever the same, there are some that leave an indelible mark on our history. Cosmos is undoubtedly one of those yachts,” said Peter Lürssen.

Designed inside and out by Marc Newson, Cosmos presents a bold and futuristic aesthetic. The centrepiece is the glass-domed private owner’s study, engineered to deliver flawless 360-degree panoramic views, directly connected to a sky terrace. This architectural feat represents one of the most ambitious glass engineering solutions ever attempted in yacht design.

Spanning six decks, Cosmos includes a glass observation lounge beneath the helipad, an open balcony with glass balustrades, and an expansive aft deck featuring a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and a dry dock for launching and retrieving her largest tender. With a beam of 18 metres and an interior volume of approximately 6,300 GT, she is among the most striking new launches of recent years.

At her heart lies a pioneering propulsion system with two 500kW methanol fuel cells, enabling zero-emission operations for up to 15 days at anchor or around 1,000 nautical miles of slow-speed cruising at seven knots. Reinforced with Ice Class 1D certification, Cosmos is designed for long-range exploration across all five oceans and seven continents.

Delivery of Project Cosmos is scheduled for 2026, and the yacht already stands out as one of Lürssen’s most important projects alongside the 134.2-metre Project Deep Blue.
