Omikron Yachts has once again demonstrated that the best yacht design begins with real experience at sea. The Greek shipyard's team has returned from the AEGEAN 600 after securing victory in the Maxi Class and claiming the prestigious Aegean Athena Trophy aboard the fully rebuilt Volvo Open 70 AIOLOS.

Originally designed by renowned naval architect Juan Kouyoumdjian for the 2012 Volvo Ocean Race, AIOLOS was acquired by the owner of the upcoming Argo 54 and extensively rebuilt by Omikron Yachts to serve as a dedicated training platform for both the owner and the yacht's crew. The owner actively competes as skipper, gaining valuable offshore racing experience in some of the Mediterranean's most demanding conditions.

For Omikron Yachts, competing in offshore races is far more than a sporting achievement. It is an integral part of the company's philosophy. Every mile sailed provides practical knowledge that feeds directly into the development of its sailing yachts, ensuring they combine performance, safety, comfort and ease of handling.

"The sea is our best teacher," said Nikolas Dendrinos, Chairman of Omikron Yachts. "Our sailing experience is an essential part of the development process. The challenges we face offshore help us create yachts that are not only technically advanced, but also practical, intuitive and enjoyable to live aboard. Both Argo 54 and the OT range are direct reflections of this philosophy."

At the heart of this vision is the 53.2-metre Argo 54, a new-generation aluminium performance cruiser designed for owners who wish to cover long distances while enjoying an engaging sailing experience. Capable of reaching 30 knots under sail, the yacht combines outstanding sailing performance with long-range cruising capabilities

The Argo 54 also features a diesel-electric propulsion system with adaptable cruising modes, delivering improved efficiency, extended range and a significantly reduced environmental footprint.

The project is led in-house by Nikolas Dendrinos, Chairman of Omikron Yachts, together with Project Manager Vassilis Kouvaris. Naval architecture is developed by Juan Kouyoumdjian Naval Architecture, while part of the exterior styling has been created by Italian designer Lorenzo Argento.

For Omikron Yachts, participation in demanding offshore races such as the AEGEAN 600 is much more than a competition. It is an ongoing process of learning and innovation, where every offshore mile contributes to the development of yachts designed by sailors, for sailors, with a deep understanding of the realities of life at sea.
