Oceanco proudly unveils Leviathan, formerly known as Project Y722 – a groundbreaking 111m / 364ft diesel-electric yacht that redefines the way we live and operate at sea. Built around purpose rather than tradition, Leviathan represents a shift in philosophy: a yacht designed with people at its heart.

From the very beginning, the owner – an experienced yachtsman deeply committed to team building and crew wellbeing – set a clear vision: a yacht created not only for guests but equally for those who run her. Crew were invited into the process from day one, offering operational insights that shaped a vessel built to work smarter and more sustainably.

Durable, low-maintenance materials like honed stone and natural wool carpets were chosen to reduce repetitive upkeep, allowing crew to focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences, supporting onboard scientific work, and managing complex operations. Traditional high-maintenance features – such as polished wood cappings, teak decks, and vast painted surfaces – were replaced with modern alternatives like composite decks, capping rails, and full-height glass bulkheads. The result is not a compromise, but an enhancement of aesthetics and functionality.

With naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects and Oceanco, exteriors by Oceanco, and interiors by Mark Berryman Design, every aspect of Leviathan reflects a collaborative, human-centric philosophy. The owner, alongside YTMC (technical representatives) and Y.CO, ensured that the guiding vision remained consistent from concept to completion.

As a tribute to the thousands of people who brought this yacht to life, a glass panel engraved with the names of more than 2,000 contributors now stands in Leviathan’s main staircase – a permanent reminder that she was built by people, for people.

“Leviathan represents a new philosophy of yachting – one that places greater purpose at the heart of design, ownership and operations.”
— Deniz de Koningh, Project Director at Oceanco
“A sanctuary of comfort where silence meets strength, Leviathan wrapped in her sharp lines represents a superb synergy of form and function.”
— Dan Morgan, Managing Director, YTMC
“She is not just a high-performance vessel. She is a working ecosystem, designed to support everything from world-class hospitality to scientific research.”
— Charlie Birkett, CEO & Co-Founder, Y.CO
Leviathan will soon begin sea trials, marking the next step in her journey. More details about her capabilities and the philosophy guiding her creation will be revealed in the coming weeks.
