Yamaha has released an all-new 350hp Yamaha V6 Offshore outboard engine that’s the lightest in its class, but more importantly, claimed to be more reliable
The new engine is built on a 4.3-litre V6 running a 11.1 compression ratio to extract more performance. Weight is 250kg for the lightest version, the same as the Yamaha F300 on which this engine is based. This compares with 329kg for Suzuki’s 4.4-litre V6 DF350, 316kg for Mercury’s 5.7-litre V10 Verado, and 347kg for Honda’s new 5.0-litre V8 BF350.
New features include a new cowling and port vent for better cooling, better fuel injection, and a new crankshaft providing more torque, and a new gearcase. The F350 also has a new safety feature: a flashing light on the back of the motor shows that the prop is engaged, so that anyone in the water will know to stay clear.
Yamaha's exclusive Helm Master EX® control system makes handling the boat easier and more enjoyable. The Helm Master EX® uses advanced technology to provide confidence to both professional and recreational boaters, maximizing fun on the water in both single and multi-outboard installations.
For 2024, Yamaha is evolving its joystick-integrated variable speed bow thruster, adding single, quintuple and quadruple outboard applications for larger boats that require additional control. In addition, Sleipner joins Vetus for these new generation bow thrusters as supported suppliers of this technology.
The new outboard is available in 25-, 30-, and 35-inch shafts, and in Yamaha gray, pearlescent white, or new classic white colors. It uses 89 octane fuel.
“Boaters asked for it and we delivered,” said Ben Speciale, president of Yamaha US Marine. “The F350 is the perfect big power, light-weight option for a wide variety of applications.”
