Design studios Rob Doyle Design and byJC have introduced an ambitious new concept: the Oi60, a 63.5m expo trimaran designed for fast travel to the most remote destinations on Earth.
The Oi60 features a wave piercing hull designed to enhance stability and efficiency. Her sharp and tight design also allows her to slice through the water and minimise the pitching motions. Oi60 is fitted with a cross beam connecting the three hulls, which achieves the effect of a "huge, perforated box" layout.
Forward at her bow, Oi60 is able to accommodate up to 12 guests, with an owner’s suite and guest staterooms, which are adorned with expansive glass walls that illuminate her interiors with a plethora of natural light.
The main living areas are concentrated in the midship zone, designed for versatility with openings that seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor spaces. The main deck is equipped with adjustable partitions, allowing for flexible use and protection based on weather conditions.
Renderings show the yacht to include an aft swimming platform fitted with a large pool, solar panels spanning her roof structure, a beach club and plenty of outdoor lounging and dining space.
On the technical side, the sail plan incorporates a free-standing mast and simplified sailing systems which can be operated single-handedly from the bridge or helm stations.
Her masts are Panamax compliant, which allow for easy passage between the Atlantic and Pacific, making Oi60 suited to global exploration.
“Oi60 is an advanced sailing machine, both self-sufficient & efficient, harnessing power from the wind & sun, utilising the latest sail, photovoltaic and regenerative technology,” explained her designers.
