Turkish company Mazu Yachts has announced its entry into steel construction with the 92 DS. The Mazu 92 DS is the first and basic version of a new semi-displacement range, to be followed by the 112 DS and 132 DS models.
The yacht will be powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS 1050 drives for a top speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. This is the first time IPS propulsion has been installed on a steel yacht, requiring close cooperation with Volvo Penta and Profjord in Sweden on engineering and naval architecture.
Responsible for both the exterior and interior design of the new boat is the famous Red Yacht Design. With a beam spanning 6.7m and a draft of 1.9m, the yacht's structural integrity is masterfully enhanced through the use of a carbon composite superstructure. This strategic choice not only reduces overall weight but also ensures that a meticulously balanced center of gravity is maintained.
Red Yacht Design's Crossover-style exterior profile features a raised pilothouse positioned forward to maximize interior volumes. The exterior image is completed by the vertical bow and the two-tone design of the hull, which introduces an impressive new aesthetic.
Engineering aside, the motor yacht offers a host of amenities designed to enhance the sailing experience. The boat features a generous swim platform, carefully designed to accommodate larger equipment such as tenders and jet skis, even on the go. The functionality of this platform is further expanded with the addition of retractable balconies, allowing for expansion while the boat is moored or anchored. Breaking away from conventional rules, the yacht features innovative glass sliding platform doors. These doors lead to an enchanting beach club, complete with an elegant bar.
The luxury yacht can accommodate up to eight guests. The master cabin located at the widest point of the upper deck, two forward cabins and a VIP cabin on the lower deck.
Speaking about the new MAZU 92 DS model, Mazu founder and designer Halit Yukay said: “I think we have created something amazing that will shake up the market. The interior volumes and large windows make you feel like you are on a yacht that is at least 10 meters longer.”
The yard has said it hopes to build "classics of the future".
