Russian billionaire Oleg Tinkov's 76.9m bronze La Datcha (meaning 'summer house' in Russian) is the ultimate adventure boat. It is one of the few yachts in the world that can withstand sailing in the remote Russian Kamchatka Peninsula and even in Antarctica.
The owner's vision was to build a boat that would be able to explore the entire marine world from end to end. A fanatic of adventure, sport and luxury commissioned Damen Yachting in the Netherlands to build her which was completed and delivered in 2020.
Azure Yacht Design and Naval Architecture's sharply designed exterior is inspired by the jagged edges of polar ice caps - a theme that continues throughout the vessel in both its decor and styling, such as the glass-lined elevator that spans all six decks .
It can sail through 16-inch ice while boasting five-star luxury.
The yacht's interior has been designed by Russian designer Vasiliy Shprits, who had never designed a yacht. Tinkov's brief to bring "wild life" on board is presented through features such as the iceberg-shaped bar in the lounge, along with jellyfish-shaped light fixtures and fish-themed tables. In contrast to the gaudy bronze exterior, the interior features natural oak, leather, marble, onyx, stone mosaics and wool carpets. The main and lower decks are dedicated to water, while the upper deck is dedicated to land.
A dedicated medical room can be a luxury that few yachts have the space to afford. However, La Datcha's built-in hospital is essential when guests engage in higher-risk activities in remote areas. It has quarantine facilities, special air conditioning and drainage systems and care by a trained ICU nurse. It also has a full suite of Tempus equipment (used to monitor all the patient's vital signs) and a mobile blood analysis machine that produces and prints results in nine minutes after the sample is taken
Six guest cabins—including two masters and two VIPs—accommodate 12 guests, each with a walk-in closet and private bathroom.
In addition to the 25-person crew quarters, there are two additional two-berth cabins to accommodate up to eight mission specialists who join private trips and charters to bring another level of expertise. These include ski instructors, volcanologists, naturalists, professional fishing guides, photographers and polar experts.
When not taking to the skies in helicopters, guests explore beneath the waves thanks to the certified dive center equipped with a decompression chamber and a three-person Triton submersible with a depth rating of 500 meters. A dedicated wood-paneled area aft of the main deck is where guests return after diving or skiing and where expedition gear is cleaned, dried and stored. It also doubles as a storage area for heli-ski equipment.
Datcha is one of the few yachts equipped with two Airbus H125 helicopters. There is a main helipad on the upper deck aft, a second waiting deck and a common hangar below deck
There are various wellness centers and then there is the wellness sanctuary of La Datcha. With direct access to the beach club and gym, it includes two jacuzzis—one inside, one on the deck—a Turkish bath, sauna and dedicated massage area. Complete with an LED-lit stalagmite ice fountain (the only one of its kind on a yacht) for an icy shock of cold ice upon exiting the hot sauna.
With improved and larger fuel tanks, La Datcha can maintain autonomy at sea for up to 35 days. Refueling is via a tank that carries around 10,000 liters of jet fuel (which is safer to store on board than petrol), giving the yacht a range of 5,200 nautical miles when traveling at 12 knots
La Datcha is a unique explorer superyacht ideal for adventure in all the lengths and breadths of the world from Antarctica to the tropical zone while combining luxury and safety!
