Designing a yacht interior from a blank canvas is a challenging proposition – even more so for a custom yacht meant to stand out while still appealing to a broad, international clientele. But Vripack Yacht Design met this challenge with creativity, an owner-first approach, and over 25 years of partnership with Burger Boat Company.

“We’ve had the privilege of designing at least a dozen yachts with the skilled craftspeople at Burger, from the warm mahogany classic interior of Ingot to the revolutionary Slide Hull on the Burger 50 Cruiser,” says Bart Bouwhuis, co-creative director at Vripack. “With the new Burger 180’, we drew on our deep understanding of what a true Burger owner values.”

The Burger 180’ is envisioned as a contemporary escape, offering guests a serene, private retreat. Vripack’s light-filled interior reinforces this vision through a relaxed and easy-to-maintain design, enriched by tactile textures, layered tones, and understated comfort.

American walnut flooring and ceilings create a calm and unified atmosphere, especially in the main salon, where cozy lounging areas invite both quiet moments and vibrant conversation. Large windows blur the line between interior and exterior, while Dedar textiles, high-gloss finishes, and Calacatta Gold and Dark Emperador marble in the guest ensuites bring luxurious detailing.

Functionality was key. Vripack maximized storage space without compromising aesthetics – especially evident in the main salon, where sleek cabinetry integrates seamlessly with floor-to-ceiling windows. Lighting also played a vital role: the layered lighting plan combines sconces, mini spots, and underlighting to create warmth from morning through night.

The owner’s suite adopts a softer palette for tranquility, with panoramic views, customizable art pieces, and rich American walnut cabinetry. The layout is complemented by loose furnishings from iconic brands like Poltrona Frau and Poliform, with natural hues of brown, beige, cream, and taupe elevating the refined aesthetic.

“A typical Burger owner is looking for a yacht that’s custom-built for their enjoyment, combining comfort, practicality, and elegance,” concludes Bouwhuis. “For us, true success lies in delivering tangible value – from the first impression to build quality, lighting, and smart storage. That’s what defines good taste.”
