ARES Yachts shares first impressions from SIMENA sea trials!

ARES Yachts has revealed the first images and performance insights from the sea trials of SIMENA, the shipyard’s debut superyacht in the 60+ metre range. The 62-metre classically inspired sailing yacht, built in a steel and carbon composite, has captivated attention with her elegant lines, towering ketch rig and seamless blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology.

During the recent sea trials, SIMENA demonstrated impressive capabilities, achieving a top speed of 14 knots under power and showing remarkable agility and balance under sail.

Designed and built to RINA Charter Class C standards, SIMENA is a true bluewater yacht that combines capability, efficiency and luxury. Her exterior design, by Taka Yacht Design, pays homage to classic ketch proportions while embracing contemporary hydrodynamics. Design Unlimited has created interiors that harmoniously merge tradition with innovation, where laid teak decks and varnished sipo mahogany evoke the golden age of sailing, complemented by modern comforts integrated with precision.

On board, SIMENA offers accommodation for up to 12 guests and 9 crew members. The owner’s suite, positioned forward on the main deck, ensures exceptional privacy and panoramic views. Her advanced hybrid propulsion system allows for silent cruising under electric power up to 6 knots, while an 882 kW (1183 hp) diesel engine supplements the 220 kW electric motors to reach a top speed of 14.5 knots. With a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 11 knots, SIMENA stands as a true expression of freedom and endurance.

Inside, the atmosphere reflects understated sophistication. Walnut cabinetry, tonal leathers, textured fabrics and antiqued brass accents create a refined yet inviting ambiance. The bathrooms feature patterned tiles with luxurious Calacatta Oro and Patagonia White marbles, while discreet details such as hidden TV lifts in the saloon and owner’s suite maintain the yacht’s timeless spirit.
