Although it's a design concept at the moment, and we don't yet know when it will come to fruition, according to Sinot, the ground-breaking design "clearly foreshadows what the superyachts of tomorrow will be like"
The world's first hydrogen-powered superyacht could be sailing the seas in the not-so-distant future. Dutch yacht design firm Sinot has unveiled a model for a ground-breaking concept that looks poised to push the superyacht industry in a more eco-friendly direction. Created in collaboration with Lateral Naval Architects, it will be 112 meters long and powered entirely by liquid hydrogen and fuel cell technology – essentially meaning water will be its only emission
Its propulsion relies on the use of liquefied hydrogen, which is stored at -253 degrees C in two isolated 28-tonne vacuum tanks. The result is a top speed of 17 knots, a cruising speed of 10-12 knots and a range of 3750 nautical miles.
It took the designers 5 months to envision the exterior and interior of the yacht, which is not only innovative in technology but also in design. It has 5 decks, an impressive internal staircase, spa, hydro massage, yoga space and all the comforts of a mega yacht. The exterior styling is inspired by the 'ocean swells' The grand staircase extends from the lower deck swim platform to the main deck aft where guests will enjoy a gentle waterfall flowing from the huge center pool.
Personalized sun loungers are placed on both sides in the sun, while the shaded section has ample seating and outdoor dining areas for hosting large events. For this purpose, the upper deck utilizes all of the extensive outdoor space for alfresco dining and effortless outdoor relaxation, with a cinema setup for movies under the stars and a fire bowl for even more beautiful ambiance.
The observation deck at the highest point of the yacht is also impressive with a wonderful view from above of the entire horizon!
There is on the upper deck forward an open owner's stateroom which benefits from full height windows on both sides of the room in addition to a huge circular skylight. The room includes a desk area, daybed, grand piano, lounge chairs and sitting area with colorful artwork on the walls and sculptures located in the center of the room under the skylight.
The yacht can accommodate up to 14 people in 7 en suite cabins: 1 owner suite, 2 VIP cabins and 4 additional guest cabins. The owners' stateroom is located on the upper deck forward with an en suite bathroom with two sinks and a shower and a center tub. A black polished marble floor, cream colored marble walls and full-height louvered windows create a timeless and spacious environment connected to the sea.
The VIP cabins are located near the beach club on the lower deck and each benefit from a huge window that runs along the side of the hull. There are also four more large guest cabins on this deck. The professional crew of 31 are accommodated on the lower deck in high quality en-suite cabins.
A real yacht from the future both technologically and in terms of design that we expect to sail quickly on the seas!
