U-Boat Worx, the world leader in private manned submersibles, has announced that its latest creation, the Super Sub, has successfully completed all sea trials and has earned full safety certification from DNV. Tested in the vibrant waters of Curaçao, the Super Sub marks a new era in high-speed luxury submersibles for private owners.

Achieving DNV certification, the gold standard in maritime safety, involved independent review of every component, system, and process. Over the past two decades, every U-Boat Worx submersible has been delivered with DNV classification, customized for operational depth, passenger capacity, and design performance.

“The Super Sub represents a major leap forward in personal submersible capability,” said Wilbert Beilsma, Commercial Director at U-Boat Worx. “This certification confirms the engineering excellence and dedication of our team. Private owners can now explore the ocean at speeds previously thought impossible.”
The Super Sub boasts 100kW of horizontal thrust, a top speed of 9 knots, and manoeuvrability rivaling dolphins. It can safely navigate inclines and declines of up to 45 degrees, while its advanced sonar autonomously levels the sub before reaching depths of 300 meters.

“With certification complete, the Super Sub is ready for its first adventures,” added Roy Heijdra, Head of Marketing. “It’s more than a submarine; it’s an unparalleled underwater experience.”

New Super Sub orders are now available for private owners, yacht programs, and expedition operators, either as a new build or via wet lease. Its technology also offers potential for search-and-rescue operations and surveying large underwater areas, with a range of 10 nautical miles.
