Turkey-based yacht builder ARES Yachts has revealed the first images of a new 50.55m superyacht project, the Spitfire. The Spitfire is scheduled to begin construction in 2025 and aims to redefine luxury and performance in the form of a fast transatlantic yacht.
It was named after the Supermarine Spitfire aircraft, which was used by the Royal Air Force and Allied countries during the Second World War. Spitfire has fine lines, with distinctive qualities such as performance, maneuverability and design, intended to distinguish it from other yachts of its size.
"This yacht will be built based on three fundamental principles: speed, lightweight construction and iconic design proportions," said shipyard president Kerim Kalafatoğlu. Leisure highlights include the huge beach club area, equipped with folding fenders, a platform and a transom that can accommodate loοse furniture and water toys. The interior space can be configured as a lounge and cinema area or as a fully equipped gym and has been designed with four large skylights for an abundance of natural light.
Accommodation is in five cabins, including an owner's suite on the main deck with 270-degree views and a private cockpit forward, complete with jacuzzi and outdoor cinema.
Spitfire's design, by Bannenberg & Rowell and Lateral Naval Architects, is driven by the desire for “flexible and informal yard-style living, with social spaces easily joined and separated at will using sliding glass walls and doors. An example is the main deck, whose dining and lounge area can be converted into a large indoor-outdoor space, and the upper deck, where doors and a sunroof allow the indoor sofas to become part of the outdoor bar, grill and sunbeds. .
Hybrid diesel-electric propulsion means the yacht can achieve a range of versatile options under power. This includes one hour of electric-only propulsion, with an optional extra battery pack pushing silent operations to 11 hours, even in Mediterranean conditions. The Spitfire will be able to reach a top speed of 22 knots and a range of 2,200 nautical miles which can be upgraded to 3,500 nautical miles with an additional tank.
