Azimut's Magellano 30M is a small revolution in superyacht design, both inside and out. UK naval architect Ken Freivokh, who has built more than 30 superyachts in his career (including stars such as the Maltese Falcon), is the one who designed the exterior lines respecting her exploratory character while giving her elegance and movement with more round and flowing lines. He also worked on the original Magellano series in 2009.
As beautiful as the yacht's exterior is, its interior is perhaps even more impressive. To design its interior, Azimut turned to artist, architect and now yacht designer Vincenzo de Cotiis. The Milan-based artist is best known for his earthy works that combine modern design elements with a historical feel.
The interior combines a 1980s vibe with pastel colors throughout and irregular mirrored surfaces. But that bit of nostalgia is mixed with the aesthetic that is so prevalent in yachting right now, with almost floor-to-ceiling windows in the saloon and very low furniture that serves to give the eye an unobstructed view of the horizon.
Another nice touch are the louvers, just forward of the cockpit, which cleverly echo some of the classic Benetti designs from the 'Dolce Vita' era of the 1960s.
Magellano has a master suite on the main deck, accessed via a hallway lined with old, circular portholes that open into a space that feels even larger.
She can accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 cabins, with 5 crew waiting for their every need
She is built with a Teak deck, GRP hull and GRP superstructure. Her top speed is 20.0kn and her cruising speed is 16.0kn and she is powered by two MAN diesel engines.
