Highlights at a Glance:

  • Dimensions: 50 metres, under 500GT

  • Exterior Design: Omega Architects

  • Interior Design: Cristiano Gatto

  • Accommodation: 12 guests in six staterooms

  • Propulsion: Hybrid technology with cutting-edge efficiency

Ruud van der Stroom, Chief Commercial Officer at Heesen, remarked: “Project Orion presents a rare opportunity for discerning clients to acquire a superyacht that embodies the unrivalled safety and solidity of Dutch craftmanship. By summer, Project Orion will be poised to navigate the oceans, setting a new standard for luxury.”

Project Orion is the latest innovation in Heesen’s renowned 50-metre FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form) aluminium series. This groundbreaking hull design, developed by naval architects van Oossanen, ensures exceptional performance and efficiency across all speeds. Lightweight aluminium construction supports a compact machinery package, delivering optimal propulsion and sustainability.

Powering by twin MTU 12V 2000 M61 (IMO III) engines, each generating 600kW. These engines propel the yacht to a top speed of 16.3 knots. At 12 knots, Project Orion consumes a mere 98 litres of fuel per hour, excluding hotel load. Even more impressively, hybrid mode reduces fuel consumption to just 45 litres per hour at 10 knots—a remarkable achievement for a vessel displacing 295 tons (light load).

Designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, Project Orion’s sleek profile is defined by a near-vertical bow and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. This striking aesthetic enhances seaworthiness and ensures smooth navigation through waves, while providing guests with uninterrupted ocean views and a connection to the sea.

Italian designer Cristiano Gatto has envisioned an interior that balances natural light with modern luxury. The layout features six staterooms, including a master suite on the main deck, a full-beam VIP cabin, and four additional staterooms on the lower deck. Open bulwarks further enhance the feeling of space and connection to the sea, making Project Orion equally suited for private enjoyment or charter use.

Over the coming months, systems will undergo commissioning and rigorous testing in the North Sea, preparing this extraordinary yacht for her maiden voyages in 2025.

For those seeking an exclusive, sustainable, and luxurious yachting experience, Project Orion promises to deliver adventures that are nothing short of stellar.
