The italian Quick Group has completed an extensive refit of a 24.5m 1996 Falcon 80 motor yacht. Codenamed Project Maverick, the vessel has been given a new lease of life to serve as a "floating showroom" and ongoing research and development vessel. The boat made its debut at the Genoa Boat Show last month (September 21-26, 2023).

Eight months of hard work and extreme challenges intervened from the start of the renovation until its recent presentation. The biggest challenge during the eight-month refurbishment was the plug and play integration of all the different Quick Group systems, in conjunction with the technology of the brand's other partners, resulting in an outstanding showboat.

Architect Aldo Parisotto, founder of Parisotto+Formenton Architetti, has undertaken the redesign of the yacht, saying "when I was presented with Project Maverick I decided to jump on board straight away".

The vessel's layout has also been radically altered by architect Aldo Parisotto so that it can also function as a family cruise ship and accommodate more guests, both media and clients, for sea trial purposes. In addition, Parisotto+Formenton Architetti designed the evocative Arcipelago Capsule Collection of indoor and outdoor lighting for the installed Quick Marine Lighting brand.

Most of the solutions from the Quick Group portfolio of brands leverage the latest technology to deliver improved performance and ecological benefits. Examples include an aluminum stern platform with a fail-safe system and a sophisticated silent stabilization system with fins specially designed for retrofitting. Project Maverick has also been fitted with XR6 windlass and BTAC 300S propellers, alongside an energy efficient lighting system designed to offer aesthetic and functional benefits.

The Quick Group has also installed its own Quick chain meter, remote controls, inverter, battery charger, water heaters, synthetic teak and QNN, a Quick-design type of device that integrates all of a yacht's systems into one easy control solution.

"I was drawn to the idea of recycling a motor yacht from the 90s and imbuing it with dual duty as a regular family yacht and as a test boat for today's cutting edge technology from Quick," comments Aldo Parisotto
"For example, the layout has been revised to make traffic flow more fluid and the galley now looks more like a kitchen in a top restaurant."
