Sunreef Yachts adds a new model to its Explorer range, the 40M Explorer, offered in Classic and Eco versions. With a new, more efficient hull design, combined with a set of electric engines, the vessel has sufficient range to cross the oceans.
A standout feature is the extensive aft swim platform, which converts into a versatile beach club or water sports area depending on preference. Huge folding fenders extend the platform, enhancing the recreational possibilities on board. The main deck features four spacious guest cabins, while the upper deck serves as the owner's exclusive retreat, with private areas and a panoramic terrace.
The vessel is covered by a solar 'skin', created by Sunreef, which turns every external surface of the hull and superstructure into a source of energy. This will generate enough power to run all the systems on board, from the air conditioning and ice machines to the jacuzzi and audiovisual equipment.
From the outside, the superstructure almost appears to float above the decks. Large glass surfaces and sliding doors create a rare sense of connection between the main salon and the aft deck. Just open the doors and it becomes a huge, indoor-outdoor social space, complete with sun loungers, alfresco dining for 10 and a refreshing spa pool with an elegant glass wall. Likewise the master cabin is connected by sliding glass doors to an outside sun deck.
Four large light-filled guest cabins fill the main deck, while the upper deck is largely devoted to the owner's suite, creating a secluded oasis of calm. An infinite variety of recycled and recyclable materials and fabrics are used in interior decoration.
When sailing, the shape of the bows reduces the effects of waves and makes navigation more comfortable while reducing pitching. The two 540 kW engines give it a cruising speed of 10 knots. The solar panels can produce up to 40 kWp and the battery capacity is around 920 kWh.
