This year, in honor of the company's 75th diamond anniversary, Feadship's Studio De Voogt presents its latest gem, C, a 75m superyacht with many innovations! The name comes from the symbol for carbon in the periodic table which is the basis of diamonds and a pun on the English words see and sea.
Inspired by the diamond and how the cut diamond reflects light and diffuses it in the space, C shines and impresses with innovations, Its profile with large glass surfaces that reflect and diffuse light inside the yacht to create for the owner and passengers a space full of light and reflections, reflects the name of the concept.
Its design still has a fluidity between spaces so that the passenger passes smoothly from one space to another and impresses with the atrium with floating stars in the center of the yacht and the open elevator.
Other design innovations on C are the partially enclosed sea lounge on the lower deck, a beach club with sea-level dining, a double owner's suite and a pair of hexagonal infinity pools that match the shapes of the various living and patio areas.
Its hull shape and all-electric propulsion system with integrated counter-rotating propellers is predicted in computer simulations to be 30 percent more efficient than a typical 75m yacht with twin shafts, propellers and rudders.
The concept C will meet 100% of its energy needs from fuel cells that run directly on methanol supplemented by lithium-metal batteries. Feadship sees green methanol as the best short-term step to decarbonise yachting due to its relatively high density and ease of use. Normal cruising speed on fuel cells is 14 knots and a top speed of 17 knots can be achieved by adding battery power to the DC mains. Additional power will be passively generated by two pairs of wave-activated fins that fold into the hull aft of the anchors.
Designers Ruud Bakker and Tanno Weeda will be available during the Monaco Yacht Show to explain and analyze parts of the design and technology, via model and video animation, to yacht show visitors in the Feadship area.
