CLEAR WAVES: BENETTI AND LUCA DINI REIMAGINE THE YACHTING EXPERIENCE

A new 70-metre concept by Benetti, developed in collaboration with Luca Dini Design & Architecture, explores the yacht not simply as a vessel, but as a living environment in constant dialogue with the sea.
What if a yacht were designed not simply around the sea, but around the idea of bringing the sea into the experience of living on board?
This is the starting point of Clear Waves, a new 70-metre concept by Benetti, developed in collaboration with Luca Dini Design & Architecture. The project explores a different understanding of the yacht, moving beyond the idea of an impressive object on the water to create a complete living environment where architecture, nature and technology coexist naturally.
At its core is a simple yet fundamental question: the quality of a yacht is not defined only by its size, comfort or technology, but also by the quality of the time it offers to those who live on board.

When the sea becomes part of the architecture
Clear Waves is built around a design philosophy in which nature becomes an active element of the architecture. Light, air, water and natural materials are not simply aesthetic references. They shape the atmosphere and influence the way the spaces are experienced.
Fluid lines, open perspectives and softer boundaries between interior and exterior create a continuous relationship with the surrounding environment. The yacht is not conceived as an enclosed space from which the sea is simply observed. Instead, the sea becomes part of the interior experience itself.
The clearest expression of this approach is the Glass Dome, an architectural feature that opens the upper section of the yacht towards the sky. More than a striking design element, it creates a direct connection between the interior and the natural environment.
The atmosphere changes throughout the day as natural light moves through the space. Morning light, the intensity of the sun, sunset and finally the night sky create a constantly evolving interior experience. Architecture becomes a lens through which the natural world is experienced rather than a barrier separating people from it.

From luxury to wellbeing
The philosophy behind Clear Waves reflects a broader shift in the understanding of contemporary luxury. Here, luxury is less about visual abundance and more about time, calm, privacy and the quality of the experience.
At the heart of the concept are the principles of regenerative spaces. These are environments designed not only to provide comfort, but also to help people slow down, disconnect from the intensity of everyday life and restore a sense of balance.
Natural light, silence, views, natural materials, privacy and contact with nature become part of the experience of life on board.
The concept of longevity is approached in a similarly broader sense. Rather than focusing simply on extending life, it raises the question of how the time we have can be experienced with greater quality and meaning.
On Clear Waves, spaces are more fluid and adaptable, allowing different forms of interaction, privacy and contemplation. Traditional functions remain, but the boundaries between them become less rigid, creating a more intuitive relationship between people and their surroundings.

Technology designed to disappear
Behind this seemingly effortless experience lies Benetti’s expertise in yacht construction, naval engineering and technological innovation.
On Clear Waves, technology is deliberately discreet. Rather than becoming a visible statement in itself, it is designed to work quietly in the background, supporting comfort, efficiency and wellbeing without dominating the experience.
This balance is central to the concept. Architecture does not compete with the sea, while technology does not compete with the architecture. Each element becomes part of a single environment designed around the people living in it.

A dialogue between Benetti and Luca Dini
For Luca Dini Design & Architecture, Clear Waves continues a design journey developed over three decades across yacht design, architecture and interior design.
For Benetti, the collaboration brings this architectural perspective into dialogue with the shipyard’s expertise in construction, engineering and the complex demands of creating a contemporary superyacht.
As Luca Dini, President and CEO of the studio, explains, the project began with the desire to question what a yacht could become when it is considered not simply as a vessel, but as an environment in which people live, recover and experience time.
That idea ultimately defines Clear Waves.
More than a 70-metre yacht concept, it proposes a different way of thinking about the yachting experience, with Benetti placing nature, architecture and the quality of human time at the centre of the design.
