Greek designer Ira Petromanolaki, through her studio Ira Petromanolaki Yacht Design (IPYD), has revealed Aether, a striking 80-metre superyacht concept developed in collaboration with Oceanco as part of its Simply Custom Collection.
Initially introduced during the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the Simply Custom range offers a flexible approach to yacht commissioning. Based on a proven naval platform by Lateral Naval Architects, it allows leading designers to create truly bespoke vessels tailored to the lifestyle and aesthetic preferences of each owner.

Light, Balance, and Geometry
Named after the Greek primordial god of light and the upper air, Aether is designed to evoke purity, harmony, and tranquility. Geometry plays a key role in the concept, with the triangle serving as a symbol of equilibrium. The yacht’s sleek, flowing lines appear to converge toward an imaginary point beyond the visible plane — a nod to advanced geometric theory.

As Petromanolaki explains:“We are referring to the concept of convergence in a fictional or imaginary space, as happens in more advanced geometry. The lines seem to meet at a point that is impossible to see or pinpoint — in the Aether.”
The result is a sculptural, dynamic form with balanced proportions, smooth curves, and extensive glass surfaces that connect the interior with the seascape.

Aimed at forward-thinking owners who value exploration and timeless elegance, Aether is envisioned as a floating zen sanctuary. The bow features a helipad that doubles as a sunbathing zone, while the aft deck houses a glass-backed pool, sunpads, and a sunken lounge. Every deck area is designed for relaxed living and entertaining.

The interior configuration includes an owner’s suite on the upper deck and six guest staterooms on the main deck, complying with Red Ensign Group’s Large Yacht Code Part A. With a gross tonnage of approximately 2,500–2,700 GT, the yacht would also feature electric propulsion, advanced stabilization, and battery energy storage.
In the words of the designer:“We craft an experience — a personal sanctuary on water that reflects the owner’s essence, allowing them to truly call it home.”
